SECP incorporation query: prepare a clear response
Source check: 15 September 2026. Practical preparation guidance for Pakistan. Examples are illustrative; any rate or filing period must match your own transaction.
Turn the query into a task list
Save the exact query, application reference, date received and any response deadline displayed. Separate the issues into identity, proposed name, business activity, ownership or capital, address, attachments and any approval requirement. Work from the wording you received rather than a generic online list of “SECP objections.”
The SECP incorporation FAQ is useful background on company types and online application documents. It is a September 2025 publication, not proof of a current fee or guaranteed processing time. Use the live case instructions for the actual resubmission.
Build a response matrix
| Query area | Practical check | Response evidence |
|---|---|---|
| Identity mismatch | Compare the application with the person’s valid identity record. | Corrected field and readable supporting copy. |
| Unclear activity | Explain what the company will actually sell or deliver. | Consistent business description across the application. |
| Ownership inconsistency | Check each subscriber’s shares and totals. | A reconciled ownership schedule. |
| Missing or unclear attachment | Check file completeness, legibility and the requested signature or authority. | The corrected document, clearly named. |
| Specific permission requested | Identify the named authority and required approval. | The requested permission, or an explanation seeking clarification. |
Write a response the reviewer can follow
Illustrative structure: “Query 1 concerns an inconsistent address. The address field has been corrected to match the attached record [filename]. Query 2 concerns the share allocation. The schedule now shows [A] shares for subscriber one and [B] for subscriber two; these total [A+B].” Replace placeholders with verified facts. Do not copy the example as if those were your actual queries.
Keep one final version of each attachment in a clearly labelled folder. An old PDF with a new filename still contains the old error. Open each uploaded file after selecting it and check the actual pages rather than relying on the folder name.
Do not change ownership just to clear a screen
Agree the founders’ intended ownership, management responsibilities and contributions before changing them in the application. A share allocation is a business decision. If a proposed amendment would change who owns or controls the company, have the affected people review and authorise it first.
SECP’s FAQ distinguishes a single-member company from a private company with multiple members and describes specialised businesses that require licensing. Use the intended activity and real owners to choose the structure; do not describe a regulated activity as something else to avoid an approval.
After resubmission
Save the submitted version, reference and response record. Check the case for further messages. Once incorporation is approved, retain the certificate and constitutional documents and build a separate post-incorporation checklist for registration, accounts and ongoing obligations. Do not issue a “registered company” claim solely because you paid an application fee.
You can often correct a straightforward typo or unreadable attachment yourself. Seek help for repeated queries, uncertain ownership, foreign participants, a specialised activity or an unclear permission request. Send a redacted copy of the actual query to scope the work.
When to request help
Answer the query point by point
Copy every SECP observation into a response table with four columns: query, correction made, supporting attachment and location in the revised application. Resolve spelling, identity, address, capital and object-clause issues consistently across every affected field; changing one screen but not the underlying attachment often triggers another query.
Do not argue around a clear documentary mismatch. If the proposed name or activity needs an approval, attach the current approval or revise the application transparently. Before resubmission, preview every generated form and confirm that uploaded files are legible, signed where required and assigned to the right attachment type. Save the query, final response, revised documents and new acknowledgement as one audit set.
Tell us the company type, query date, response deadline and the issue SECP raised. Start with a short summary. Do not send passwords, PINs or one-time codes. Ask for the scope and professional fee before commissioning work.

Questions people also ask
Does a query mean my application has been rejected permanently?
Read the actual case status and instructions. A request for clarification should be answered through the specified process; do not assume an outcome from an informal message.
Can an adviser promise SECP approval?
Approval rests with SECP and, where relevant, other authorities. Ask an adviser to define the correction work and what later queries are included.
