Check a prize bond result and calculate tax on the winnings
Official draw database checked 20 September 2026. The checker contains every result file linked from the six denomination pages reached through National Savings' Download Draws page at the review date: Rs 100, Rs 200, Rs 750, Rs 1,500, Rs 25,000 Premium and Rs 40,000 Premium. Each result links back to the official file. Seven older image scans are marked with a coverage warning because their extracted winner count does not equal the published prize count; a no-match involving one of those scans must be checked manually in the source.
How much tax is deducted from a prize-bond winning?
National Savings publishes a 15% withholding rate for a person on the Active Taxpayer List and 30% for a person not on the ATL. The deduction is made from the gross prize under section 156 of the Income Tax Ordinance. The Ordinance treats this tax on prize-bond winnings as final tax, so it is not simply an advance amount to be recomputed under the ordinary salary slabs.
The calculator uses the status you select; it cannot verify your CNIC or ATL position. Check your current status through FBR close to the payment date and ask the paying office which list or status date it will apply.
| Gross prize | ATL: tax at 15% | ATL estimated net | Not on ATL: tax at 30% | Estimated net |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Rs 1,000 | Rs 150 | Rs 850 | Rs 300 | Rs 700 |
| Rs 200,000 | Rs 30,000 | Rs 170,000 | Rs 60,000 | Rs 140,000 |
| Rs 1,500,000 | Rs 225,000 | Rs 1,275,000 | Rs 450,000 | Rs 1,050,000 |
| Rs 30,000,000 | Rs 4,500,000 | Rs 25,500,000 | Rs 9,000,000 | Rs 21,000,000 |
The arithmetic is gross prize × applicable rate = tax withheld, followed by gross prize − tax withheld = estimated net payment. It does not include bank charges or resolve a disputed ATL classification. Obtain and retain the payment advice or tax-deduction evidence showing the gross amount and tax.

| Rs 750 | 1 × Rs 1,500,000 | 3 × Rs 500,000 | 1,696 × Rs 9,300 |
| Rs 1,500 | 1 × Rs 3,000,000 | 3 × Rs 1,000,000 | 1,696 × Rs 18,500 |

These values are encoded from the prize structures used in the official result files collected for the checker. A future government change can alter a prize structure or tax rate. The official draw file and current National Savings product page control for a real claim.
How to check a number safely
- Read the denomination from the bond. A six-digit number is not globally unique; it must be searched within the correct denomination.
- Keep leading zeros. Enter the full six digits. The checker pads a shorter numeric entry to six digits and shows the normalized number before search.
- Choose the scope. “Latest” is fast for a current draw. “All available draws” checks the official files held in the database. A specific draw is safest when you already know its date or draw number.
- Open the evidence. Every hit identifies the draw number, date, place where available, prize rank and official source file.
- Inspect warnings. A coverage warning means the historical source scan did not pass the expected-count validation. It does not mean the bond lost.
The search runs in the browser. The entered bond numbers are not submitted to Chartered Advisory by the checker. Avoid publishing a clear photograph of a bearer bond or sending its full number to people who are not involved in the official claim.
Was the bond eligible for that draw?
National Savings' FAQ states that a prize bond must have been issued at least 60 days before the draw to be eligible. Finding the same six digits in a result therefore does not prove that a bond bought later participated in that draw. Keep the purchase or issue evidence where available and let the paying authority check the instrument.
Also distinguish an ordinary bearer prize bond from a registered Premium Prize Bond. Ownership and payment mechanics differ. For a bearer bond, physical possession of the genuine original matters. Premium bonds are registered to the investor and National Savings describes prize money and profit as direct credits to the registered bank account.
Claim checklist for an ordinary bearer prize bond
National Savings' current FAQ identifies the ordinary claim pack as the prescribed claim form, a copy of the claimant's CNIC, the original winning bond and a signed photocopy of the bond. Read the current form and office instructions before travelling; an office may need additional verification or bank details for payment.
| Prepare | Reason |
|---|---|
| Original winning bond | The authority verifies the instrument; a screenshot is not a claim. |
| Signed photocopy | Supports the claim record while the original follows the prescribed process. |
| Valid CNIC and copy | Identifies the claimant and supports tax-status checking. |
| Completed claim form | Captures bond, prize, identity and payment particulars. |
| Bank and ATL evidence if requested | Supports payment routing and the applicable withholding rate. |
| Copy of official result | Helps identify the draw and prize, though the authority performs its own verification. |
The FAQ says prizes up to Rs 1,250 may be claimed through National Savings Centres, State Bank of Pakistan offices and authorized commercial-bank branches, while prizes above Rs 1,250 are claimed through designated SBP Banking Services Corporation offices. Confirm the current office and threshold before going; operational arrangements can change. National Savings says claims are generally processed after verification in about three to five working days.
Claiming a Premium Prize Bond winning
Premium Prize Bonds are registered instruments. National Savings says their prize money is credited directly to the registered investor's bank account and a separate prize-claim form is not required. If the expected credit does not arrive, compare the draw result with the exact registration details, confirm that the nominated IBAN is active, and contact the issuing or servicing office through an official channel.
Do not treat a delayed credit as permission to disclose internet-banking credentials. An official can ask for identity, bond-registration and account-routing evidence; they do not need your password, PIN or one-time code.
Do not miss the six-year claim limit
National Savings states that prize money can be claimed within six years from the date of the relevant draw. Treat the draw date—not the day you discovered the result—as the starting point. For an older match, contact the appropriate office promptly and keep evidence of submission. The checker includes older results for discovery, but it does not extend the statutory or administrative claim period.
What to retain for your tax and wealth records
- the official result file and the draw number and date;
- a copy of the claim pack and submission receipt;
- the payment advice showing gross prize, tax withheld and net proceeds;
- the tax-deduction certificate or other evidence issued by the payer;
- the bank credit and any later use of the funds; and
- for an asset purchase or year-end balance, the records connecting the net winnings to the wealth statement.
Because section 156 tax on prize-bond winnings is final tax, do not mix the gross prize into salary merely to run it through salary slabs. The return may still require the receipt and final-tax position to be disclosed in the appropriate fields, and the money or asset acquired with it must still reconcile in a wealth statement where one is required. Use the actual payment certificate rather than the calculator estimate.
Common mistakes and scams
- Paying a release fee to a stranger: verify the result and claim only through official National Savings, SBP BSC or authorized channels.
- Searching the wrong denomination: identical numbers can exist on different bond values.
- Assuming every old match is claimable: check the 60-day eligibility condition and six-year claim period.
- Using the non-ATL net amount as a permanent tax conclusion: verify status and the rate actually deducted on payment.
- Giving away the original bearer bond: keep it secure and obtain an official receipt when submitting it.
- Believing a social-media list over the source: compare the exact number with the linked official result file.
After the paying authority verifies the bond, Chartered Advisory can review the section 156 certificate, return disclosure and wealth-statement trail. Begin with the denomination, draw date, gross prize and a redacted payment record. Do not send the original bond, password, PIN or one-time code.

Questions people also ask
What is the tax on prize-bond winnings in Pakistan?
National Savings currently publishes 15% for a winner on the Active Taxpayer List and 30% for a winner not on the ATL. The payer deducts it from the gross prize under section 156.
Can I check several bond numbers together?
Yes. Paste numbers separated by spaces, commas or new lines. The checker normalizes each entry to six digits and searches the selected denomination and draw scope.
Does a checker match guarantee payment?
No. Verify the number in the official file. The paying authority must inspect the original bond and confirm ownership, issue-date eligibility and claim validity.
How long do I have to claim?
National Savings states that prize money may be claimed within six years from the date of the draw. Do not delay an older claim.
What if the checker says no match?
Confirm the denomination, all six digits and draw selection. If a selected historical draw carries a coverage warning, inspect its official file manually before treating the result as conclusive.
Do Premium Prize Bond winners submit the ordinary claim form?
National Savings describes Premium Prize Bond prizes as direct credits to the registered bank account, without a separate prize-claim form.
